The Banana Spider that can pee on you and swell your face up - in our bed room before we got it.
Jase with Ko, the little friend the kids in his school bring home for Dutch class.
These People run a bar-b-que every saturday. The man in the middle has been doing it for 25 years, and this is his daughter and son. We buy it every Saturday it really cheep and really good!
The kids at a park right by the Bar-b-Que place. It was sort of raining and the kids wanted to ware their rain stuff. It was still really warm out and the rain gear came off. the park is all made out of cement and re-bar.
Our place is in the pick building on the second floor. YOu can see our little red bubble car and the Caribbean side of the ocean. (looking west)
Looking east up the street. If you were on our balcony you can see the Atlantic side of the ocean.
At the park we play at quite often.
At White Wall with the Coopers, the kids all sitting on a cannon.
You can kind of see Todd and Randal . they walked down from White Wall to see if they could find anything good. Like a blue bead. - I'll explain later.
Me and Todd at Zeelandia on one of our morning dates.
Teaching me to ride his scooter that he now is trying to get rid of because he got a better one.
Courtney and her friend Mayrubia
The road to the girls school. It a little bummpy.
The ruins here are from a castle called Crooks Castle. It was built around the 1600's Or earlier - I'll have to find that out. It pretty amazing but unfortunately a lot of the ruins are taking a beating from the ocean and are slowly being destroyed and taken out to sea.
Old Well, it pretty neat! Todd climbed down - against his wife's wishes - to check it out. Lucky he came back up.
Kids and the hermit crab sanctuary they built.
The old Dutch Oven used in the kitchen in Crooks Castle. Its fallen far from it original spot.
Beautiful sun set from our Balcony.
Another one of our morning dates. I have this picture out of order but this is on top of the Quill - the volcano - and you can see the rain forest behind me. Unfortunately the hurricane caused bad mud slides and washed out the trail into the bottom of the forest so we have to wait until it is repaired. they think maybe around Christmas.
Harmless snake only found on Statia and Saba (Neighboring Island)
Climbing to the top of the Quill
Todd and his machete that we got from some friends who left the island. He had fun using that on the way up.
Beautiful lizard we saw at the top of the Quill. Look at the bright blue and then turing green as it goes down to its tail.
Here you can see how small the Island is. You can basically attach the next 3 pictures together. This one is looking east at Zeelandia and the atlantic side.
Here you are basically facing north and can see the ocean running along the top of the hills on the other side - opposite of the quill.
Here is the Caribbean side, toward the west. If you can picture kind of a horse shoe shape. You can see our little bubble car there.
I am trying really hard not to be jealous! I have always wanted to live in paradise! Loving and missing you! Love Grams
ReplyDeleteSo I was thinking about those Banana spiders! How do you kill those? It's hard to get a picture of how big they are, but his legs look significantly thicker than a daddy long legs, so I'm guessing he might be bigger? Or just sturdier? Anyways... he looks like me might offer up some resistance to being squished. YUCK! I hope Todd took care of that!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures, and I can't wait to come visit! Love you!
They are pretty gross looking spiders. the one in our bedroom was about the size of my palm. Yucky. Since then we've seen a few more about the same size, and a smaller one in the house again and i just stepped on it with my shoe.
